Hello traders. I am kinda new with forex. Still studying baby pips and have watched some YT. I tried backtesting GBPUSD with a plan I come up with which I though not really that promising because of some flaw in it. I am backtesting with 200 USD just to make sure that the system works, and when I start with a live account I can re-create the plan with 200 USD and start compounding. This is my plan for now:
1 hr chart
Aroon Up/down
ATR 14, for SL and lot size
2% risk per trade
2 trade (1 with 1:1 RR, 1 w/o TP but close when Aroon crossed)
Let the trade (1:1 RR) run until it hits SL or TP
If the trade (1:1 RR) hit TP, the trade w/o tp should close on the next Aroon cross
Risk management need more evaluation, seems dangerous
need better exit indicator
Need trailing SL to lock profits
If the distance between both EMA is small, it tends to lose
If some of the previous bars (candlestick) are small, it tends to lose
need to consider the spreads
when balance reached 1000 USD, it is harder to grow, bigger losses
Lot sizes also killing the account
need to cut unnecessary losses, filter "flat" charts
need forward testing
Any advice on how to filter out the “flat charts” early? Most of the time these charts are the culprit to my losses. Or any other advice that I may need to know? Thank you
I've been spending the last few weeks while in furlough learning about FOREX for three main reasons,
To learn something new
To do something productive with my free time (vs browsing reddit or playing games)
To make some money on the side
Now, ignoring #1 and #2, I've just been thinking about #3. I have a pretty good day job when I'm not furloughed (work in marketing data analytics in the tourism sector which is obviously fucked), but I've been thinking about ways to get some cash on the side to fund my sort of expensive hobbies. I've been thinking, if I could trade on the Japanese market from 6-10pm Mountain Time a few nights a week, could I net more than I would working a part time job? And the answer is, based on the research I've done making the assumptions below, not without a starting capital of in the $20,000-$25,000 range... Which is doable, I guess, but I can think of better uses for my savings account and will probably be playing with less than $5,000 and tiny risks to live test. Anyway, I've made some assumptions below and I guess I'm just looking for someone who wants to step in and confirm or deny my thoughts. That being said, I'm not going to *not* continue on with forex trading as a hobby, but I think I just need to throw out #3 above unless there's something I'm missing. Not as fun, clearly, but it seems to take the "making money" side of this whole thing away. So what are you all in this for? Do you actually have six figure or million dollar accounts and are making something worthwhile off the ROI, or set up with prop firms and hedge funds? Are people here actually hitting 20%, 30%+ yearly, more? Or is everyone else just here for shits & giggles?

📷 I ran across this website coin24option.com from someone claiming that they could flip my $800 into $8000 by trading through bitcoins and currency. One day I was searching on Facebook for what i don't remember, I came across people saying how this guy Marcosfx was helping people make lots of money. It was about 10 people I saw saying the same thing and they all said to contact him if you would like to make extra money. So my curious self wanted to do some digging to find out if this was really legit. My website that you are on now is about scams and legit companies to make money from. This will be on my TOP 10 Scam list as number 1. Ok so I contacted Mr. MarcosFX and he responded a few hrs later. He sent me a list of the amounts I can start with and flip the money. I chose the $800 because it sounded good at the time and I had money to blow. I also did it because I was 90% confident it would work. I knew about the currency and forex market and they claimed to do this for you. Ok so once he contacted me he told me to buy 800 bucks worth of bitcoin and then transfer it into his account which I did. I bought it from someone through Zelle. When you go through Zelle it is almost impossible to get your money back if you have been scammed. Ok after I did that he told me to give him my information so that he can make an account for me on coin24option.com He sent me the username and password and asked me to watch the account grow. I watched for about 6 days getting excited each day as the account went up 1000 a day. I was for sure that I was going to make me a whole lot of money and had a whole lot of plans on what i was going to do with it. When the last day came around I was trying to withdraw the money but couldn't. He messaged me on Facebook and said that I had to send him 20% of the 8000 before I could get it. I told him why couldn't I just give him the 20% from what was already there. He said it doesn't work that way. Immediately a red flag stood up in my brain. I was being SCAMMED! I tried everything in my power to get my 800 back but he just would not refund the money. I told him I wasn't giving him any more money and that was that. He ended up blocking me and ran away with my money. I thought I was great at spotting scams before they occurred but this time, I got played! When I did the research on this company the first time I realized I pulled up the wrong company with close to the same name and that company had 5 stars. When I went back to look up coin24option.com there were plenty of people who had already gotten scammed from this company. The only thing I could do was file an online scam report, but I still was not able to get my money back. When you go con scam24option.com the site looks very professional. But at the top, it says it's not safe. They have a live chat there but no one ever answers the chat. All of the reviews and people they have listed as working for them are fake. I hope who is behind this site rot in hell for all of the money they have stolen from innocent people. If you are reading this I hope I saved you from this SCAM. My backstory: I was a sophomore in college until I took a break or semi dropped out to learn how to invest in forex and stock trading 2 years ago. Now fast forward to today I am 24 years old, I work at whole foods and because classifies as an essential worker I am eligible for hazard pay. $10+ in addition to my original hourly pay rate is $25/hr. I purchase stocks on Robinhood weekly ( I have a list of dividend stocks to invest in longterm). I swing trade forex which is a huge profit maker. I was up $200+ a day in a single trade. The point I am trying to make is this pandemic speed up my wealth growth. My stocks pay monthly to quarterly dividends (that is continuous income), forex, and my part-time job at whole foods will definitely bring in good money. I am very optimistic about the future! Pre-market trading...does anyone else like this style?
Hi all - Please be gentle as I am a noob :-) I have been a long time Forex trader and long-term stock trader since around 2004. Until very recently I had never really paid attention to stock Day Trading. During Covid shut down I got bored and fell madly in love with pre-market buying and selling a few hrs into the market opening or when the stock declined $0.10 in 1 min. I use tons of alerts with various sounds for price drops of more than $0.02 and I get SMS when it hits $0.09 drop in 1 min. Sometimes I make as low as $0.25 a share and a few times as much as $7 in per share profit. Seems mostly I range between $0.50 - $1.25 in per share profit. I only trade 2-4 stocks per day. Finviz, Benzinga, BamSEC, Smarttrader, and thinkorswim are my main tools. I have a range of criteria I use to choose stocks. Some of the stuff I look for is trend-line, support and resistance, volume at closing, stock price must be over $1. Then news, SEC filings and a few other important elements that help me select a stock. I have completed about 48 days of actual trading in this manner. I have lost about 8% of my total profits and that was simply because I was still learning how to manage reversals. Am I missing something? Why don't more people do this? I totally realize there are so many different ways to Day Trade and especially since I am a total noob....but these last few months have been so wonderful and exciting. I keep forgetting we're in the middle of a pandemic. This method of trading also seems less affected by extremely bearish days. I am based in Japan and stay awake until around 1am which is about 12 noon EST. And then when I wake up I begin to locate my pre-market trades which usually takes me about 2-3 hrs.
