The Vokey SM7 wedges first appeared at the Shriners Hospital for Childrens Open in November and within a couple of weeks they were the most played model on tour with 123 SM7 s in play at the RSM Classic.
From a looks point of view, there s not a huge amount to notice that s different from the SM6. They look clean, they look classic, they look like what you d expect from a Vokey wedge. Titleist added progressive centre of gravity locations in the SM6 and we can see these being deployed again with more mass near the sole of the club in the lower lofts and more near the topline in the higher lofts. We first got our hands on them when we went to get fitted at Titleist s National Fitting Centre.

The CG locations are even more precise to get more consistency. There are now six grind options F, S, M, K, L and the new D. The F-grind is also players who like to keep the face square. I found the Vokey SM7 48 offered me a bit more finesse on the half-shots than my 718 AP1. I m not going to lie though I still find the SM7 a bit intimidating on full shots. Next up, I was fitted into a 54 F-grind which has 12 of bounce. It was great to be able to get fitted into the same shaft as my 718 AP1 irons the AMT Black S300. Now this is a club that I like to use a lot anywhere from 80 yards and in.
I ll use it out of the bunker and chipping around the greens. I see it as a versatile club which will probably get more use than any other club apart from the putter during a round. Again, the fact I like to always keep the face square rather than opening it up means the F-grind is ideal for me here. But the standout wedge for me in my new set is the 58 K-grind which has 14 of bounce and a really wide, forgiving sole. This works fantastically well out of the rough and the bunker. It feels to me like this is a club which does a lot of the work for you because it glides through the turf and sand so easily.
I have been fitted into 60 wedges before but I found they got very little use out on the course. With my 54 and 58 I feel every shot is covered and I feel they will both get plenty of use. So what are they like to use on said golf course. Well, they look fantastic and the sound and feel is superb too. Are the Vokey SM7 wedges a huge improvement on SM6. I m not sure it s fair to say that they are. But they are still an improvement nonetheless which is a fantastic achievement for a product that was so successful. It s definitely a case of subtle tweaks and refinements rather than ground-breaking changes like we saw from SM5 to SM6. As a mid-handicapper, I m far happier chipping around the greens with the Vokey SM7 wedges than I am playing full shots. But around the greens is where shots are gained and I feel like these wedges can help me knock a few shots off each round.
And with the bounce and grind options, I think that golfers of all ability levels can get a set of Vokey SM7 wedges that works for them. Yes, these are wedges designed for the Jordan Spieth s and Justin Thomas of this world but with the vast array of options available, mid-high handicappers can have success with them too. Take the 58 K-grind which I was fitted into it s a really forgiving wedge with lots of bounce and a chunky sole which doesn t require tour-level ability to use.
If you purchased a set of SM6, you may not want to rush out and get a set of SM7 unless you really need fresh grooves. Okay, even VW admits that ll drop to around 125 miles in the real world, but still, that s more than enough charge to keep you moving on the daily commute.
Read on and we ll give you the answer. As with any EV, there s a smooth rush of silent and powerful acceleration when you put your foot down. In fact, it shoots to 62mph from a standing start at least as quickly as most diesel hatchbacks can. That s for nipping between lights in the city and it ll cruise at 70mph without any issue, although doesn t have much oomph if you try to go much faster.
Pulling the gear selector down to B has the same effect as engine braking in a conventional car, while recovering energy and feeding it back into battery. You can choose from five driving modes in total, depending on the severity of braking you want and how much energy you want to recover. If you really want to conserve energy, the optional heat pump is worth considering it recovers warmth from the car s electrical systems to heat the interior in cold weather. The standard driving mode is all you really need in most situations, but if range anxiety does start to creep in, selecting one of the economy modes limits power and top speed, and either restricts or completely turns off the air-conditioning, all to conserve battery charge.
The e-Golf doesn t handle too differently from any other Golf. There s slightly more body lean through tight bends, but its steering is well weighted and gives you a good sense of what the front wheels are doing. It s certainly agile enough for you to have fun on tight city streets, and there s enough grip to make cross country drives entertaining. It s certainly more fun than the Nissan Leaf, which has significantly more body roll. Ride quality is also impressive.
At low speeds, the e-Golf smoothes over broken roads as well as any mainstream Golf does, and is just as comfortable on the motorway. In fact it s far more cosseting than the slightly jittery BMW i3 and beats the Kia e-Niro, too. At speed, road and wind noise are also well hushed, making the e-Golf one of the most refined electric cars on sale. Add in the lack of a grumbly diesel or petrol engine just the near-silent whir of the electric motor and it s a very peaceful drive indeed.
The real-world range of around 125 miles is reasonably competitive for the class, although a Renault Zoe will get you even farther between charges. However, it s the Hyundai Kona Electric that has the best range for this sort of money, closely followed by the Kia e-Niro. Renault Twizy. Voyons ensemble si la nouvelle déclinaison Performance porte bien son nom. Parallèlement, le montant de pare-brise a été déplacé vers l arrière, ce qui a permis de rallonger le capot moteur et de reculer visuellement l ensemble de l habitacle.
Bien entendu, la Golf 7 GTI se distingue des autres modèles par de nombreux équipements et fonctionnalités supplémentaires, mais aussi par tous les attributs visuels typiquement GTI. La hauteur a par ailleurs été réduite de 27 mm à 1442 mm, tandis que sa longueur a augmenté de 55 mm à 4268 mm et sa largeur de 13 mm à 1799 mm. À l extérieur, la GTI 7ème du nom révèle son identité par les étriers de frein rouges le logo GTI y est ajouté sur la version Performancedes feux arrière LED foncés au design caractéristique et des sorties d échappement chromées à gauche et à droite.
Sans oublier, le liseré rouge au niveau de la grille de calandre qui déborde ici à gauche et à droite jusque dans les phares bi-xénon et les couleurs de carrosserie rouge Rouge TornadoNoir et Pure White proposées depuis la toute première Golf GTI. 7, c est aussi le nombre de coloris disponibles en option, métallisés ou nacrés Carbon Steel Grey MetallicReflexsilber MetallicTungsten Silver MetallicLimestone Grey MetallicNight Blue MetallicDeep Black nacré et Oryx White nacré. Enfin, autre nouveauté, les roues en alliage léger de 17 de type Brooklyn 18 type Austin ou 19 type Santiago en option sont chaussées de pneumatiques de dimension 225 45.
L habitacle de la VW Golf 7 est entièrement nouveau et la GTI y ajoute la touche sport-chic si chère aux adeptes du genre. Les personnes de grande taille apprécieront tout d abord le fait que le siège a été reculé de 20 mm. La sellerie en revanche reste dans la tradition, au goût discutable, avec les carreaux légendaires du tissu Jackydorénavant rebaptisé Clark. Ce qui est nouveau, c est qu ils sont en effet pour la première fois accompagnés d Alcantara sur les bourrelets latéraux et les appuie-tête.
Les sièges et habillages de porte sont par ailleurs disponibles en cuir Vienna en option. Ces sièges Sport apparaissent toutefois un peu larges pour offrir un maintien parfait aux gabarits de taille normale. Autre élément notable, la console centrale désormais tournée vers le conducteur évoque davantage l univers du haut de gamme et du sport.
